first_imgA construction worker was on Thursday sentenced to two years imprisonment for gun possession and another year for possession of ammunition when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.Charles Stoby appeared before Magistrate Dillon Bess who handed down the sentence, since the prosecution presented sufficient evidence to warrant a conviction. The Police stated that on November 5, 2018, at Alexander Street, Kitty, Stoby had one 9mm pistol in his possession without being the holder of a firearm licence. It was also alleged that on the same date at the same place, he had in his possession two live rounds of 9mm ammunition.Stoby, at his first appearance, denied the charges when it was read to him by Magistrate Ann McLennan. However, during his appearance, the Police stated that Stoby had signed to a caution statement as “Anthony Nedd”.However, during the trial, the Police produced witnesses and the evidence was overwhelming.
