PICO RIVERA – New Mayor Ron Beilke took over the helm of City Council on Tuesday, vowing to bring unity and forward thinking to the city’s newly reorganized officials. “If you’re looking at what we should continue from past, that’s the furthest thing from my mind,” Beilke said Wednesday. “We need to look at where we need to go from here and not be looking to past and look toward the future.” Tuesday’s council meeting also ushered in Gracie Gallegos-Smith, unanimously voted as Mayor Pro Tem, and Bob Archuleta to the City Council. Both replace former councilmen Pete Ramirez and Carlos Garcia, who were ousted from office after the March 6 elections. Gregory Salcido, an incumbent in the election, was also sworn Tuesday in for his third term on council.
