IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods featured at Placerville Speedway’s Donnie Tilford Tribute
Some of the top talent in the Golden State is expected to be on hand for the IMCA Modified portion with names such as Bobby Hogge IV, Troy Foulger, Ryan McDaniel, Nick DeCarlo, Kellen Chadwick, Duane Cleveland and others. With drivers like that it is sure to be a can’t miss show on the quarter-mile Placerville clay oval. PLACERVILLE, Calif. – Both IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods are on the Saturday card at Placerville Speedway’s annual Donnie Tilford Tribute. The pit gate will open at 2 p.m. with the front gate opening at 3 p.m. The drivers’ meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. with cars on the track for wheel packing at 5. Hot laps, qualifying and racing will follow. Live music will be performed in the grandstand midway by Kylie Segura. The April 27 Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier, paying $1,500 to win, $800 for second, $600 for third, $450 for fourth, $375 for fifth and a minimum of $75 to start. Northern SportMods race for $500 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and E3 Spark Plugs State points will be awarded in both divisions; Modifieds also earn Larry Shaw Race Cars Western region points. The Northern SportMod main event last season turned out to be a thriller at the Donnie Tilford Tribute, which saw K.C. Keller pick up the win over Aaron Crowell and Brian Cooper. The Sport Mods always bring solid car counts throughout Northern California and expectations are to see a healthy one on Saturday night. Adult tickets are $15, while seniors 62-plus, military and juniors ages 12-17 are $13, children ages 6-11 are $6 and kids five and under are free.
